Synopsis:
Thirty-five-year-old writer Makio Koudai never had a good relationship with her older sister, Minori, who always scolded her for being different. Therefore, the news of Minori and her husband’s death in a car accident doesn’t shock Makio. But when she is asked to identify their bodies, she encounters her fifteen-year-old niece, Asa Takumi, whom she hasn’t seen in years.
As Asa struggles to come to terms with her parents’ deaths, Makio reassures her that her complex feelings are valid and encourages her to start keeping a diary to cope with her loss. After learning that no other relatives want to take Asa in, Makio decides to become her guardian, despite his lack of experience. In a world full of uncertainty, the writer and the teenager must learn to live together while learning about themselves.
