Synopsis:

The samurai firefighter who stopped the massive fire is called “The Fire-Eating Bird.” Matsunaga Gengo, formerly known as the “Fire-Eating Bird”, was Edo’s best firefighter. He left the fire department for an unknown reason, but then received an invitation to work for the Shinjo family. The Shinjo Fire Department was underfunded, understaffed, and despised by those around it. With the support of his wife, Miyuki, Gengo sets out to rebuild the shattered fire brigade and becomes its captain. Gengo and his friends, each with their own distinct characteristics, strive to “save all life,” despite being ridiculed as “cowards” (Boro-Tobi-Gumi). A mysterious series of suspicious fires, known as “fox fires”, continue in Edo.
